In 2018 Japan withdrew its membership of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) and resumed commercial whale hunting in its territorial waters and exclusive economic zone in 2019 after a hiatus of about 31 years.<\/p>

Whaling must be stopped<\/strong><\/p>

Whales play a key part in helping to combat climate change through their role in the marine ecosystem. They play a vital role in the health of the oceans where they help provide up to 50% of our oxygen, combat climate change and sustain fish stocks.<\/p>

Blue Planet Society and our supporters are urging Japan to cease commercial whaling and rejoin the International Whaling Commission (IWC).<\/p>

How to take part<\/strong><\/p>

Building up to and during the Tokyo Olympics 23 July to 8 August 2021 we will be peacefully campaigning in our End Japan Whaling<\/strong> and Save The Whales<\/strong> T-shirts to highlight this cruel and outdated slaughter.\"\"
